Outcome

The design achieves a compact footprint with a tetrahedral radiator arrangement and an aerodynamically quiet, stiff radome. The split carrier and rear bulkhead isolate RF paths from the mechanical fixing loads, improving stability through vibration and thermal cycles. Tooling-ready geometry and modular parts reduce assembly time and risk.

Design Highlights

  • Composite radome: woven laminate with metallic edge protection and sealed fasteners.
  • Structural RF spine: carries the radiator arms and routes the feed while keeping the mechanical load path off the RF joints.
  • Mounting frame: square base frame with captive fixings for rapid service and repeatable gasket compression.
  • Environmental sealing: radial O-ring strategy and vent/drain features for flight envelopes.

Analysis & Compliance

Structural/thermal verification

Modal and random vibration, mounting stress, and heat path review for DO-160-type environments.

RF integrity

Geometry tolerances around radiator tips and feed ensure stable pattern & return loss across band.
