Brief

The customer required a robust multi-purpose laser workstation capable of micron-level placement and high throughput. Our scope included concept architecture, motion/optics layout, thermal/mechanical analysis, full 3D CAD, build documentation and site commissioning support.

  • • Working envelope: 800 × 500 × 300 mm
  • • Rotary A/B for compound angles up to ±45°
  • • Fiber laser integration with galvo scan head
  • • Granite base + air isolators for stability
  • • Vision camera for fiducial pick-up & closed-loop offset
  • • Interlocked Class-1 enclosure, light-tight & fume extraction

Engineering Highlights

  • Motion stack: Cross-roller linear stages on a metrology-grade granite frame. Precision ballscrew on Z with counterbalance and tool length probe.
  • Optics path: Modular beam delivery with sealed bellows, fold mirrors and safety shutters; coaxial vision for on-part registration.
  • Fixturing: Kinematic nests with pneumatic clamps; palletised to reduce changeover time < 60 s.
  • Controls: CNC controller with PLC safety; recipes, barcode traceability and MES hooks.
  • Process capability: Positional accuracy < ±25 µm (3σ) over full field; burr-free edges on CFRP and thin-gauge metals.
